Clay Shoot Competition & Have A Go

The High Lodge team will once again host the Clay shoot area. 40 bird sporting competition to take place over the two days with men’s, ladies and junior’s sections.

This year’s Clay Line is kindly sponsored by Rudlings Solicitors LLP.

Axe Throwing

Nick (Timberhitch Axe Throwing) has been teaching and demonstrating the therapeutic art of Axe throwing for over 20 years which involves different styles of Tomahawk and double headed axes.

Due to the varied weight of the axes, with our expert guidance, most people would be able to pick up an axe and throw it comfortably and hit the target !
This is done on an individual one on one basis (even in a group environment), just to ensure safety and maximum fun at all times!) Axe Throwing £4 per person for approx. 10 throws.

Rifle Range and Archery

As well as the popular Clay Shoot Competition and ‘Have a go’, John Bidwell’s High Lodge Team will also be offering ‘Have a go’ at archery and air rifle shooting set up with full equipment available for you to try the sport.

Their staff will be ready to welcome you to the stand where you can find full information about High Lodge and what they have to offer from Clay shooting practice, instruction, air rifle shooting, golf, fishing, holiday lodges, weddings, functions and corporate entertainment /conference facilities.

Archery 8 arrows under instruction £5 per person.

Air Rifle 14 shots under instruction £5 per person.

Fly Fishing, Coarse Fishing ‘Have a Go’ and Fly Casting

The Duke and Duchess of Grafton have once again kindly permitted the Game & Country Fair use of their private stretch of the Black Bourn River.

World and European Casting Champion, Hywel Morgan will be entertaining crowds with a Fly Fishing demo in the Main Arena. He will also offer ‘have a go’ fly tying and casting tuition and demos on the Black Bourn River.

Hywel will also be joined by a number of angling associations and enthusiasts including Alan Riddell who is well known for his hand-built rods and flies. For many years he has been designing and making rods for fly, lure and also coarse angling rods in carbon. Alan is also known for being a specialist stream fly rod builder using fibre-glass and for making flies for all game fish, Pike, Bass and others.
